User Interface Interactions with FixedNumBus
Added in Version 24
When a case has been configured with buses assigned to FixedNumBus groupings, then portions of the user interface will behave differently. In particular the Case Information Displays, User Interface Dialogs, and the Bus View will include additional features.
Case Information Display FixedNumBus features
Many case information tables will include additional default columns for FixedNumBus or SubNodeNum when cased have FixedNumBus defined.
-
FixedNumBus : For the object table shown which has a bus number, this will be the FixedNumBus to which that bus is assigned. On a table of Bus objects this field can be edited as described in Fixed Number Bus (FixedNumBus) Features.
-
SubNodeNum : On a bus table this field is also shown which can be edited and is described in Fixed Number Bus (FixedNumBus) Features.
The images below show these extra columns boxed in red.

On some of the bus case information displays special Filter By choices are shown. These allow you to filter the table to show All buses, FixedNumBus Only, or SuperBus Only. |

|
On some of the Branch case information displays, a special Filter By BranchType option is shown on the left of the table. A list of checkboxes are then shown with available BranchDeviceType.Check and uncheck these to filter the display by these types. |

Gen, Load, Shunt, Branch Object Find Dialogs
There are many places in PowerWorld Simulator where a dialog box is used to Find an object. This dialog may be opened as a stand-alone dialog or it may be embedded inside another dialog. These dialogs are described elsewhere in the help at Find Dialog/Object Chooser. For objects to which FixedNumBus fields are relevant, these Find Dialogs wll be changed to include ways to search by Bus or by FixedNumBus.
For example on the Gen, Load and Shunt Find Dialogs there will be a drop-down that has 3 choices to choose (1) By Bus Only, (2) by Bus and FixedNumBus, or (3) by FixedNumBus Only. An example image is the next image. The entries in the find dialog in Blue represent identifiers using the FixedNumBus while the entries in black are using the bus number. Note that when choosing to show by Bus and FixedNumBus that the same object may appear twice in the list as it can be identified in 2 different ways.
Similar options will appear for a Branch object as well
Bus View
Bus View onelines are very useful for navigating the topology of the power system model. These are described generally in the Bus View Display help topic. There is a dropdown with 4 choices
-

Consolidated Subnet
-
Consolidated FixedNumBus
Choose the option as desired and you will only see connections to other SuperBus, FixedNumBus or Subnet.
