Switched Shunt SVC Control Mode and Controllable Shunts Algorithm
Switched Shunt SVC Control Mode simulates a continuous or discrete shunt element that can control up to 8 fixed shunts. These shunts do not have to have a Control Mode that is fixed, but they are treated as fixed as long as they are being controlled by an SVC. To control these 8 fixed shunts the following algorithm is used to determine when to switch in or out a controllable fixed shunt.
The pseudo-code of the algorithm is as follows:
NOTE: For svsmo3, we need the current thus that is calculated as B of SVC in PU *(Voltage at Terminal Bus). The algorithm is the same but with the correct current parameters.
The MVA Convergence Tolerance is found on the Power Flow Solution Options.
