Contingency Element Type: Substation
The following describes the options available when creating a contingency element of type Substation. Contingency elements are created from the Contingency Element Dialog, and additional details of how to create contingency elements can be found here.
Action Settings
Open
This action will open the selected substation. All tie lines from the substation and all branches within the substation will have their Status set to Open.
Open Breakers
This will open all branches within the substation and branches that are ties from the substation by changing the status of breakers. See the special topic on Open Breakers for more detail.
Set To Added in version 20
The Set To action will set the MW output of online generators in the substation to the specified Amount. The MW output can be set in Percent or MW. When setting the MW output in Percent, the output is set to the specified percent of the contingency reference state MW output of the generators in the substation. When setting the output in MW, the MW output of generators in the substation is set to the specified amount. Individual generators within the substation are adjusted based on a weighting of their present output divided by the total present output of all online generators in the substation. Generator limits are not enforced, but generation is not allowed to go negative. If a generator is adjusted by this action, its AGC flag is set to NO so that it will not be adjusted by any automatic MW control schemes.
Change By Added in version 20
The Change By action will change the MW output of online generators in the substation by the specified Amount. The MW output can be changed in Percent or MW. When changing the MW output in Percent, the output is changed by the specified percent of the contingency reference state MW output of the generators in the substation. When changing the output in MW, the MW output of generators in the substation is changed by the specified amount.
